The Academy is an international organization created to enhance both theoretical and practical research in the field of tourism.

Its membership is comprised of highly accomplished tourism researchers from throughout the world.
Goal
The goal of the Academy is to further the scholarly research and professional investigation of tourism. Related objectives include: (a) encouraging the application of tourism research findings and (b) advancing the international diffusion and exchange of knowledge about tourism.
Non-profit organization
The Academy is incorporated as a non-profit corporation with an official headquarters in the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong.
