Philip Pearce

I have been involved in 2019 and early 2020 in editing and writing chapters for two substantial books.

  • Pearce, P. L., & Oktadiana, H. (Eds.) (2020). Delivering Tourism Intelligence From Analysis to Action. Bingley: Emerald.
  • Pearce, P. L. (Ed.). (2019). Tourist Behaviour The Essential Companion. Cheltenham: Edward Elgar.

Papers and conference presentations have been covering the topics of managing tourist behaviour, social identity and uncivilised behaviour, uncomfortable encounters with tourism technology, digital free tourism and rewarding experiences, and analysing tourists' memories.

My team of PhD students has temporarily shrunk from 8 to 5 as quality people graduate and move on new arrivals are due in the next month.

I am pleased to be involved in the International Tourism Studies Association (ITSA) conference in Jakarta and James Cook university Singapore in early August 2020.

The themes of tourism in cities and the interesection of technology and culture should appeal to many globally.

Academy members Prof Alastair Morrison and Prof Brian King are two of our speakers.

Former academy secretary Dr Hera Oktadiana is also a keynote speaker together with Prof Iis Tussyadiah.
